Au Bord de l’Eau
Our little restaurant, port and gite is in a quiet, pretty little spot on the banks of the Canal du Midi on the outskirts of Buzet. We pride ourselves on serving fresh homeade food using local produce. We also offer boat moorings and have a small holiday gite.
Buzet is a well known wine producing village set in the Lot et Garonnais countryside surrounded by vines halfway between Bordeaux and Toulouse. The ‘Voie Verte’ cycle path that runs from the Atlantic to the Med passes in front of us.
Au Bord de L'Eau serves fresh home cooked food with a British twist on the banks of the Canal de la Garonne. Come and relax for a while and enjoy a freshly prepared meal and glass of Buzet wine on our flowery terrace.

Our friendly little port is located in a pretty and tranquil setting, 5 minutes walk from the centre of Buzet, where there is a small supermarket, bakery, chemist and newsagent. We are 300m from the locks to join La Baise and Le Lot rivers.
We can provide long and short term moorings for all boats and we are happy to accomodate large barges.
Water/Electricitity (16 amp)
Boat Maintenance and Cleaning
We are 5 minutes from Aiguillon train station with a regular TGV service to Bordeaux and Toulouse. The 3 nearest airports are Bergerac, Bordeaux and Toulouse which are all about an hours drive away.
Gite du Port
Our comfortable gite overlooking the canal sleeps 2-4 people and has a pretty terrace by the water. The gite has an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area and a double bedroom. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, gas hob, oven and fridge. There is also wifi.
Ideally situated right on the 'voie verte' cycle path the gite du port is ideal for cycling, boating or walking holidays.
Sara & Kevin Sharpe
We started Au Bord de l'Eau in 2007 having fallen in love with this pretty little corner of France and deciding we wanted to follow our dreams and open a little bistrot in the area.
Having studied French at University and spending a year in Provence and many family holidays in France, I always knew I would end up here, and Kevin was happy to take the plunge with me. So after many visits and discussions we took the plunge and gave up our corporate jobs in the UK and the adventure began.
That was 12 years ago, our little business has since gone from strength to strength evolving over the years. Kevin is the chef and Sara runs the front of house. We take pride in serving fresh local food with a British twist!
12 years later and we now family of our own and call Lot et Garonne our permanent home.
It is a beautiful area ideal for a relaxing holiday, there are beautiful bastide rivers, lakes and countryside, wonderful gastronomy and friendly people not forgetting the lovely Buzet wine. There are lots of fun activities including cycling, boating, wine tasting and loads of activities for families and children.
A bit older, greyer and hopefully a bit wiser we are enthusiastic the future and have lots of exciting projects to come.
